As Dr. Wale Okediran marks his 70th birthday today, tributes have poured in from across the Nigerian literary community, hailing his immense contributions to the growth of reading and literary culture in Nigeria. 

Among the most notable of these tributes is from the Founder of Ibadan Book Club and Coordinator of the Read Across Nigeria (RAN) initiative, Wole Adedoyin, who recounted how Dr. Okediran has singlehandedly supported the operations and growth of several literary initiatives, particularly in Ibadan and beyond.

According to Wole Adedoyin, Dr. Wale Okediran was instrumental in the success of Ibadan Book Club, having funded its monthly readings consistently for over two years. 

These sessions not only brought together readers and writers from across the city but also played a vital role in grooming young and emerging literary talents. 

His financial support enabled the club to secure invite guest authors, provide refreshments and literary materials for attendees.

Dr. Okediran’s commitment to promoting literacy and reading was further demonstrated through his sponsorship of the inaugural edition of the *Read Across Nigeria* project in 2016. 

This groundbreaking initiative took book readings and literary discussions to over 20 states in Nigeria, igniting the reading culture among schoolchildren, students, and the general public across diverse regions of the country.

Beyond Ibadan Book Club and Read Across Nigeria, Dr. Okediran has also made significant contributions through the Ebedi International Writers Residency in Iseyin, Oyo State. 

Over 15 members of Ibadan Book Club and other Nigerian writers have benefitted from the residency, gaining the space and time to focus on their literary projects, receive mentorship, and collaborate with fellow writers.

Thanks to his influence and network, Dr. Okediran also facilitated a strategic partnership between Ibadan Book Club and Adwinsa Publications, a renowned publishing house in Ghana. This collaboration birthed the *Read Nigeria Project*, which is aimed at promoting Nigerian literature and authors within and outside the country, and it remains active to this day.

Adedoyin emphasized that without Dr. Okediran’s vision and generosity, many of the successes recorded by Ibadan Book Club and other reading initiatives would not have been possible. “He has been our pillar, our silent supporter, and our greatest ally in the pursuit of a literate and enlightened society,” Adedoyin said.

Apart from his financial contributions, Dr. Okediran has also offered moral and professional support to young writers and literary organizers. His accessibility, humility, and readiness to mentor have made him a respected father figure in the Nigerian literary community.

With heavy hearts and profound reverence, we announce the passing into glory of **Prophet John Ola Akande**, the esteemed Provost of Calvary International Bible College, Founder of the College of Salvation and Practical Evangelism (COSAPE), and the visionary behind the First Christ Gospel Ministries (INC). He departed this earthly realm on **April 4, 2025**, at the age of **80**, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith, service, and spiritual leadership that impacted countless lives across generations.

Prophet John Ola Akande was not merely a preacher, but a divine vessel through whom God poured rivers of wisdom, healing, and prophetic insight. His commitment to the Word of God and his unwavering obedience to divine instruction led to the establishment of ministries and institutions that continue to shape the spiritual landscape of Nigeria and beyond. His life was marked by total surrender to the Great Commission, with a passion for evangelism that birthed COSAPE—an institution that continues to train soul-winners for Christ.

As Provost of Calvary International Bible College, Prophet Akande mentored and discipled generations of pastors, missionaries, and church leaders, laying a foundation rooted in biblical truth, spiritual discipline, and practical ministry. He believed in producing not just scholars of the Word, but doers—those who would carry the light of Christ into every corner of the world. His teachings, seasoned with grace and prophetic depth, remain a fountain of inspiration to many.

The First Christ Gospel Ministries (INC), which he founded, stands today as a spiritual fortress, a testament to his obedience to God’s calling and his apostolic grace. Under his leadership, the ministry expanded into a vibrant community of believers united in love, truth, and the pursuit of holiness. Prophet Akande’s humility, fervent prayers, and pastoral heart endeared him to all who encountered his ministry.

Though we grieve his absence, we celebrate a life well-lived in total devotion to the Kingdom. Prophet Akande was not just a father in faith, but a spiritual patriarch who poured himself into others selflessly. His counsel was wise, his presence comforting, and his vision always Christ-centered. His departure creates a void, but his legacy endures—a living epistle in the hearts of those he touched.

He is survived by his beloved family, spiritual sons and daughters, and a host of mentees whose lives bear the imprint of his ministry. As we mourn, we also give thanks for the gift of his life and ministry. We are confident that heaven has welcomed a good and faithful servant who fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

May the memory of Prophet John Ola Akande be a continual blessing, and may his passion for souls, his love for the truth, and his prophetic legacy inspire generations to come. Rest in the bosom of your Master, dear Prophet. You have truly earned your crown.

Wole Adedoyin, the President of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers and the African Director of the International Human Rights Art Movement (IHRAM), has been selected to join the Wisdom Advisory Council of the Splendid Mola/Writers Happiness Movement, a Los Angeles-based literary initiative.

This prestigious appointment, effective from August 2024, acknowledges Adedoyin's outstanding contributions to nurturing and empowering young writers across Nigeria and Africa. His work in fostering literary talent and supporting the development of young writers has made a lasting impact, earning him this recognition on a global stage.

In a  dated 18^th July, 2024 issued by Lori R. Snyder, the Founder of Splendid Mola and The Writers Happiness Movement, Adedoyin's impact on the literary landscape was highly commended. Snyder highlighted that Adedoyin’s tireless efforts in mentoring young writers and helping them hone their writing skills made him an ideal candidate for the Wisdom Advisory Council. His work has not only facilitated the publication of numerous young writers but has also strengthened the literary community in Africa.

The Splendid Mola Retreat for Writers and the 1-day Urban Mini-Retreats, which Adedoyin will now help advise, are designed to provide writers with a supportive environment to create and focus solely on their craft. These retreats offer an uninterrupted writing space, combined with all-levels yoga tailored for creatives, delicious meals, and the camaraderie of felloSw writers. They represent a holistic approach to fostering creativity, ensuring that writers have the time and space to concentrate on their projects.

The Writers Happiness Movement, another initiative under Lori Snyder's leadership, is dedicated to building a global community where writers are fully supported. Snyder’s academic credentials include a BA in Communication Studies from UCLA, years of study toward an MS in Marine Biology from CSULB, and an MPW (Master’s of Professional Writing) from USC. Her short fiction has been recognized with a nomination for the Pushcart Prize, and her debut novel, The Circus at the End of the Sea, has already begun to make waves. She resides in Los Angeles, where she continues to inspire writers through her work and her leadership of the Writers Happiness Movement.

Wole Adedoyin, a theologian and Christian Writer has added another feather to his cap by becoming a member of the prestigious International Association of Certified Theologians. Simultaneously, he has been appointed as the pioneer Chairman for the Association's Osun State Chapter.

A seasoned scholar, Wole Adedoyin holds certificates in Theology, Diploma, and Advanced Diploma in Bible studies from a reputable bible school in Norway. His expertise spans across Biblical Literature, Poetical Book studies, and the burgeoning field of Cyber Mission. Adedoyin is widely recognized as the President of the Association of Nigerian Christian Authors and Publishers (ANCAPS) and the Bible Reading Association of Nigeria (BRAN).

The news of Adedoyin's appointment was conveyed through an official letter issued by the National President of the International Association of Certified Theologians, Professor Chukwuemeka Egberase Okuchukwu, CTN, CCI, FWABTIS, ACLPT, PhD CRS.

In the appointment letter, Professor Okuchukwu expressed his pleasure, stating, "I am pleased to inform you that the National Executive, in Consultation with the International Advisory Council of the Association, has graciously approved your appointment as the Chairman, Osun State Chapter Executive of the Association."
